Overview

A panel of 14 Smart Sensor circuit boards

The printed circuit boards were manufactured by Express PCB, located in Santa Barbara, California. For small quantity jobs, Express PCB offers inexpesive and fast turnaround two layer or four layer board manufacturing services with a variety of options. They also offer free CAD schematic and layout software. For Turtle Sense Phase Two, in the summer of 2014, 16 Communications boards were made, with 4 circuits printed on each separate panel. Similarly, 56 Smart Sensor boards were made, with 14 circuits printed on each separate panel. Other vendors may be more competitive for larger quantities.

The circuit boards were assembled by Screaming Circuits, located in Canby, Oregon. For small quantity jobs, they offer reasonably priced fast turnaround circuit board assembly services with a variety of options and personal assistance with the ordering process.

The Gerber files used to make the Communicator board are available here to anyone who wishes to use them.
